My Little Family
Today I thought we all had pretty sweet hair, which obviously means that it's a perfect time for a photo shoot! Thanks to my mom for pressing the shutter button and making my life a little easier :)
I Can.
I went to a conference in Phoenix last weekend and the theme for it
was "I can." The other day was a roller coaster for me. I was driving
around in my parents crazy little car with
the roof down listening to loud music and out of the blue I just REALLY
needed to affirm to myself that I CAN! So I did. I yelled "I CAN" at
the top of my lungs (feeling just a little crazy) but was bawling by the
third time I yelled it. I needed so bad to validate and sustain myself.
It was beautiful. So as some extra self care (since doing photography
is when I'm at my best) I did a photo shoot of this special little
necklace that's now around my neck 24/7.
I have had several people request to use this photo for Facebook or Instagram and the answer is YES!! Just say that it's from Rachel Lindsey Photography :)

Train Date
I'm trying to get in the routine of taking Revin on a date every week. Tuesdays seem to be a good day for us. Hazen goes to grandma's for a nap and me and Revin go on an adventure! Last week it was haircuts and ice cream and today was a train date! I'm not sure I'll ever be able to top this date.... Revin is just obsessed with trains. And today was especially fun for me because I got to take my camera along and do something that I'm in love with.
The first thing he was excited about was buying his ticket! He's seen the Polar Express and knows that tickets are very important for a train ride and you can't lose it!
I gave Revin $2 to spend on whatever he wanted. He wanted a doughnut. So we went to Starbucks (I didn't know where else we'd find a doughnut at our stop). He was so brave and told the cashier what he wanted and paid for it. He's such a big boy! The lady gave him his little bagged up doughnut and he ran to a table and asked "Want to come sit down with me?!" How could I refuse?? He's so adorable.
He was so excited to take his bagged up remains onto the bus. He ate some while we were waiting and he ate some on the train.
And this next photograph is my life's best work up until this point. Let it speak to you. Then scroll down and see how it speaks to me.
It captures emotion. It captures the moment. And it captures something beyond that borders on the line of angelic and divine. When I look at this picture, I see the body, the person, the human Revin. Just him as he is every day in his sweet innocence. And then I see the reflection of him... It is like his spirit is looking back at his body. His reflection knows and shows something that the person does not. It is wiser, more loving, understanding, feels more, IS more. It's everything that is inside of Revin. He's been sent here to learn how to be true to all that divinity that is inside of him, all that I see in that sweet reflection of his. He's here to learn how to master his body so that he does not betray who he really is. He's here to learn how to make the body and the spirit work harmoniously together. And I am so incredibly blessed to be his witness and mentor.

Somebody needs to teach this kid how to smile without grimacing haha

This is me being artistic.

Halloween 2014
This is Halloween!! Today was a day. We went downtown for a trick-or-treat at Buddy's work. Apparently my kids have no fear of heights.
Buddy made some pumpkin spice cupcakes, practically by himself, to submit in the fall bake-off. Pretty sure he won be we are yet to see. I taught him the proper way to frost a cupcake (the cupcake in the middle) and in the morning I woke up to find all these crazy looking ones. I actually thought it was an improvement! His coworkers thought he was being festive and tried to make them look like brains, which wasn't the case.
Revin was a dragon and Hazen was Tigger.
Then we went trick-or-treating in a nice neighborhood with our friend Scott and can I just say that taking good pictures in the dark is very difficult if you don't have crazy expensive equipment.
